The Krewe of Eros has hailed among the oldest, nonparading, social carnival clubs within the city of New Orleans.

True to tradition, Eros presents a Royal Court and Krewe each year during its Bal Masque.
Following the formal presentation, the celebration continues long into the evening with a
Grand Gala that features a live band, dancing and a festive feast for all in attendance.

About the Krewe of Eros

Our Beginning

In 1935 a select group of noble gentlemen, many of whom were Captains of their own Mardi Gras clubs, sought to present an Elite Court and spirited Krewe of Merry Revelers to the city of New Orleans. The small company of members came to be known as somewhat of a “Captain’s Club,” given the background of many of its leaders. Their purpose was to host a Bal Masque and Gala that was both fun and formal, which included the official presentation of Debutantes. The Club’s original charter states it’s intentions as the desire to foster a spirit of good will and comradeship among its members; to cultivate their literary and aesthetic taste; and to promote social activities for their entertainment. Eros has remained, since it’s origin and dictated by its charter, a small but steadfast organization dedicated to the social aspect of New Orleans Mardi Gras traditions and to hosting an incredible celebration.

Our Diety

Eros, the God of Love, is the youngest of the gods. The son of Aphrodite and Hermes, he is armed with a bow and arrows from Zeus. Eros infiltrates and vitalizes all things: producing life, love and happiness. Eros rules the hearts of gods and men. Every carnival season, Eros presents His Royal Court to the romantic and musical themes that have become favorites of his cortage.

Our Tradition

Some of the gentlemen involved in the club are descendents of the original charter members. Family traditions are deeply ingrained in the history of Eros. However, with membership on the rise many new families have been introduced to the Krewe of Eros. Because Eros has held such firm roots in Mardi Gras’ past and continues to prevail with its newly sprouted wings, the Club hails as one of the oldest non-parading carnival organizations in the city.
